We were offered optional tours that we took advantage of and we were never disappointed. Informative and you can tell they love their country and their job.Our tour director was amazing.

Days Budapest to Prague
If no single rooms are available, don’t let that stop you from traveling—consider bringing a friend, mother, sister, or daughter along to share your experience. We spent a few days on our own after the trip and I can tell you that we are spoiled by Gate 1 and know we certainly would rather have the structure of the tours, meals, etc that Gate 1 gives. All the staff are outstanding and really do go out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. Now we just have to think about what our next adventure will be and know we will be using them. Visit the site of the Nazi concentration camp at Terezin, a place of suffering and inhumanity for over 150,000 prisoners.

She gave us many helpful hints as we set out on own in the city.We can not say enough about our cruise director, Adrien. She worked tirelessly each and every day and was clearly visible at all hours. Her daily port talks were informative and easy to understand. Adrien went above and beyond to help us with the challenges of navigating in foreign places. In addition to being exceptionally competent at her job, she was pleasant, approachable and it was just a delight to be in her company.
Some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot. The Christmas season adds another layer of beauty to the already romantic charms of Budapest. Nestled in the heart of Pest lies Vörösmarty Square, home to the city’s largest yuletide market. The enticing aroma of national specialties permeates the air as vendors display traditional and contemporary handicrafts. At the cozy St. Stephen’s Basilica market, mulled wine keeps revelers warm as nightly light shows illuminate the church’s facade.

One of the oldest and most distinguished Bohemian noble families, the Lobkowicz family has played a pivotal role in the history of Central Europe for more than six centuries. After the tumult of the 20th century and the establishment of the Czech Republic, the family recovered formerly confiscated properties including Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle. Opened to the public in 2007 as the Lobkowicz Palace Museum, its collections feature world-famous paintings, ceramics spanning five centuries, and much more. Favorite highlights include hand-annotated manuscripts by composers including Beethoven, Haydn and Mozart. Our Tauck Exclusive private farewell evening at Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle includes a private tour of the museum's collections, a reception and a gala farewell dinner, hosted by a family insider. Discover river cruises that depart from Budapest and end in Prague.
Or, indulge your passion for fine art and fine food with a fascinating and memorable panoramic tour. Or explore Jewish Vienna via our Jewish Heritage excursion. Arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. If your cruise/tour package includes a group arrival transfer or if you have purchased a private arrival transfer, you will be greeted by a Uniworld representative and transferred to the ship. While a cruise on the Danube is very relaxing and the pace leisurely, to enjoy this cruise, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances, often over unpaved and uneven surfaces.

Upon arrival, walk to the camp’s ghettos where more than 35,000 Jews lost their lives. The tour includes visits to the Memorial of National Martyrdom, the Small Fortress and the Museum of the Ghetto.Approximate tour duration is 4.5 hours. Enjoy an afternoon guided tour of the magnificent Schonbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg emperors.
I would also like to specially mention our room attendant Nura on the Monarch Empress. Don't know how she managed to be outside our door every time we left our room, but she was and freshened it up even when we didn't realize it needed it. I don't know how she possibly could have been more attentive or nicer.

You'll leave this demonstration with your own copy of the original recipe. After the Strudel show, enjoy a guided visit of the palace. Stroll hallways elaborately decorated with golden stucco, rich velvet and stunning frescoes.
Drive along one of the prettiest streets in Budapest, Andrassy Ave, on your way to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Andrassy Ave is a broad promenade of breathtaking neo-Renaissance architecture and home to many of Budapest’s must-see sites. In the evening, a special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you. If you are a resident of the U.S., no other vaccinations are currently required for travel to the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Slovakia or Hungary. Steps from your room you'll find the ship's fitness center and sauna/whirlpool. Experience your river ship cruising in and out of charming ports from your private balcony on the Serenade Deck. Plus, your cabin is located with easy access to our reception area and the ship’s library, just down a half-flight of stairs. For relaxation, the bar/lounge features inviting couches and soft chairs. When it’s time for meals, head to our large, open-seating dining room. Our menu for the day includes a stop for coffee and strudel at a local coffee house—a hallmark of Viennese culture—and a glass of Viennese wine from one of the city’s oldest cellars.
Items too large to fit under the motor coach seat or on the overhead rack must be stored in the luggage bays beneath the motor coach, and may be inaccessible during daytime travel. Moderately paced, and may include some early morning hotel departures, one or two on-tour flights, and extended motor coach travel. Bisected by the Danube, Budapest combines old and new, East and West with vibrant and inviting grace. Made up of two parts—Buda, on the east side of the river, and Pest, on the west—the city offers dazzling architecture, welcoming cafés and startling reminders of both recent and long-ago history. Conveniently located near the center of Warsaw, the Mercure Grand Hotel is a great spot to rest while exploring the historical and architectural beauty of the city.

Your Uniworld adventure may be over, but we know you’ll enjoy the memories you’ve made for years to come. You will get off the coach for a tour of the Holocaust Museum and Research center. As part of this tour, you will get to visit the museum’s synagogue, the only one open on Saturdays and holidays. After, make your way to the river to see “Shoes on the Danube,” a memorial to the 3,500 lives lost—800 of them Jewish Hungarians—to the Arrow Cross militia during World War II.
First of all the cruise director, Bart, kept us rolling in the aisles with his sense of humor and quick wit. I really enjoyed his commentary and his daily updates. We had two wonderful nights of entertainment from outside the ship. The evening games and talent night were also outstanding. All of the tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly.
